I really miss all the people from Mexico.
It sucks not having a community like that here.
A lot.

Once
I watched "Once" this evening.

I'll have to watch it again before I pronounce it a favourite of mine. It made me play music afterwards, which is the sign of a good movie. If I leave it wanting to write, draw, dance, or create something, it is a good show.
It made me want to move to the UK.
It also made me want to be with someone who loves making music. I feel slightly stranded here in Vanderhoof sometimes, stranded from people around me who want to make music just for the heck of it. I miss that. A lot. I wish I could write music better than I can, but I don't even exercise what I have well, so I should just shut up and practice.
If anyone wants to make music with me, let me know...

Piesssssss
I am a freakin' pie goddess. I just made a pastry shell and pie filling and baked it and it looked beautiful. To be perfectly honest, I don't know how it tastes, because I gave it away to the lady who's pie plate it was in, but it looked pretty fantastic.
PIES TO TRY MAKING:
Pumpkin
Lemon Meringue
Other ones I can't think of now?
Also, I am planning my Greyhound Roadtrip - WOO! I'm so excited to see all the different people!
Other than that - my life is pretty boring. I made a cute new beret hat that I wear all the time lately. It's brown and tres cute. Tee hee.
Loves.

Of days past....

I typed hate a few times instead of hats... oops. :D
MORE HATS!!!!

My attempt at the "beanie with a beak". Still a prototype, because the beak works on some people's heads, but not others... :S

Despite the fact that it's pink, I STILL love this hat! It's the one that I wear the most, (even though it's up for sale, SHH), and I just love everything about it. My first adult sized earflap hat.

New design I tried - it's for my friend Elizabeth. I've got a really hott one in black and dark green that is great.

WIP: It was for my sister, but even though I used the same pattern as always, it turned out child sized. What the crap.

Another adaptation on the boy beanie. I like the colours - looks better in real life.

Dis ones for my nephee-poo. I'm so jealous - my parents get to go visit soon, and I don't. So I crocheted him a hat. :D

MY CAMERA CASE! I bought a new camera, and I didn't want to pay another $20 bucks for case, so I just made up a pattern!

There it is all shut up...
And the button's basically the best part....
THIS IS THE BOOK! SO GOOD. Must have to learn to crochet.

This is the bag I carry all my wool in - it's my IKEA bag that Cynthia and Isaac gave me for Christmas as wrapping paper for my lamp... BEST WRAPPING PAPER EVER. :)
And this is me, toting the bag to College and Careers' every week. I'm soooo hot.
THE END.

Spanish Blueberry Pie Hat Camera - it tastes DELICOUS!
I'm so horribly sporadic at writing in these things.... get used to it.
Last night was grande - I got to hang out with 4 Spanish speakers from Spain, although 2 of them are from England now. The mother spoke English fluently, her son could speak almost fluently as well, her daughter knew all the words, but didn't know how to put them together, and often spoke so fast, I had no idea what she was saying, English or Spanish, and her brother spoke only Spanish.
IT WAS GLORIOUS. I did not realize how much I missed speaking Spanish with people! There were lots of little things that were different between Spain Spanish and Mexico Spanish (lots of the words are slurred weird), but it was so much fun to sit and chat about random things. They also said if I was ever in Northern Spain or England to call them up and come stay! :)
Also - I love how this journal is slowly becoming my DIY journal. I made a blueberry pie ALL BY MYSELF yesterday, and it doesn't taste as bad as I thought it would. I should take a photo of the half of it that is left. And the incredible
Alsoalso - today I may just go and buy the camera that I've been wanting to buy for like, 5 years. That being said, it's not a particular model I've been wanting for 5 years, so much as I just want to own a CAMERA! It'll be good for throwing in the back of my purse, and I especially want it if I'm about to go gallavanting about Canada this fall? Maybe?
Okay... got to go get ready for work and such. Smelly candles and table linens, here I come!!

Project #3 and beyond... The Beanie Affair!
Just practicing and experimenting with this one, but it had some issues with gaining stitches at the join. It works well as a colour example though.
CROSHAYDESIGN.COM.... Really neat site. I'm going to try working on a brimmed one next with a YouTube video I found on how to do it the other day... :)
I'm also working on a really cute all black scarf too. It's fun, I'll post photos when it's finished!
Remember - I'll sell, and if you pay postage ship too!

Project #2: Uganda Extrodinaire!
This scarf was crocheted as a gift for my friend Rinette - when I was struggling to no end to learn using only a book, she offered to show me a few basic stiches... So, it was while watching Pirates of the Carribean 3 that I learned how to double crochet (or "dc", as I'm learning... )

The colours are that of the Ugandan flag, as she's traveled there a few times I believe, and is in love with Africa! It's just 2 rows about 16 stitches long of each colour of double crochet. Nothing complicated.

I've decided to do my photo shoots for my projects all over the house. This one was in the bathroom. :D Nice new tub surround, eh?

Woo hoo! Yay Scarves! I'm selling others if you're looking!!
Next post: MY FIRST BEANIE!

Finished Project #1: Where's Waldo?
This is my pride and joy, just because it's my first ever crocheted project FINISHED! I just love that I'm actually able to do this now!

I've been wanting to make something (a bag, a website) out of the light blue and red for ages, because a girl in my grade 8 class had a sweater of those colours, and I desperately wanted them. Don't know why I like them so much, but I do. Anyways, while buying wool, the natural feeling was to add white in there.
They are 4 rows per colour, double crocheted, ~22 stitches long. This scarf is quite a bit longer than my Uganda one.
The best part is - I think I may already have this one sold! A girl was really interested while I was still making it - she loved that I called it Where's Waldo, apparently! It doesn't look like I'll have to go to selling online just yet!

BTW, sorry for the crappy photography. I just wanted to get these photos up here finally!

Music: the primary way my heart makes sense to my head
First Day of My Life - Bright Eyes
GOOD SONG. Best part, is how I discovered it. Everytime I attempt to call my lovely Coloradian Ali, this song plays the first 4 lines while I wait to talk to her. Weird American phone lines... :S
But yeah, I wanted to hear the rest of the song, so I Googled the lyrics that I heard, and found it.
That, and today, while Elizabeth and I got pulled over by the cops for having one headlight out, we listened to a whole bunch of hip-hop, which I haven't heard any of since DTS. It makes me miss everyone. I never thought I would appreciate hip-hop. :S
TASSELS done on my Waldo Scarf! WOO! Will be posting photos soon! I'm thinking I might sell online? Might go better that way..
Okay. Bedtimes.

Tigerlily.
Today I heard of somebody who's daughter's name is Tigerlily.
At first, I was like, "That's Weird."
Now, I'm loving it. I have always, always loved tigerlilies, and I love the character in Peter Pan, and it's just plain beautiful.
Maybe even as a middle name. It's just pretty.
I'm getting addicted to blogging again, dangit. It always happens.

I need to learn how much to charge for web work.
You know, I found out last week that my mother almost named me 'Maggie'.
I'm slightly disappointed that I got named Katherine instead. How poopy. Maggie is cute, and it's a good old lady name, too.
So, I just took on a website job... some (hopefully) simple updating to a local country singer's website. Actually, apparently she's really big in Europe. I wish I were big in Europe.
Although, then people would call me Magpie. It's still cute, though.
Still working on my "Where's Waldo" scarf, and it's freakin' hott. I would have already been done by now, but I increased stitches and did not notice earlier, so I had to rip a crapload of it out. Oh well. I enjoy it.
TE QUIERO, TODOS.

Firsts are fun. So are Thirds.
OH MY GOSH - http://ktsch.blogspot.com! NEW ADDRESS?!?!?!
This new journal is going to be mostly based on following the insanity of crafts that I have going as of late, and of course, random other thoughts. It will be more picture based than previously, and yeah. The title's a crapload easier to type. Basically = spring cleaning.
Heck yes, I'm rocking the new layout. I hearts it.
I've been crocheting like crazy - photos to come of my latest - what I'm calling my "Where's Waldo" scarf, and a hair wrap I did for my sister.
Seriously, all I can think about lately is selling my crocheted stuff when I get good enough. I've been practicing tons, and I think there might even be a place in town that would take it..?
In the Exciting News Department: On Monday, I get to go look for new glasses, and on Tuesday, HAIRCUT!! (or should it be spelt 'haircute'? Because that's what it's going to be.) I still really want to get my nose pierced, but I'm thinking this will be sufficient changes to keep me occupied for at least a few days.
Okay. I should go to bed, even though I don't have to work tomorrow.
LOVES to all.
-♥k.
PSes: I'm reposting the crochet one just so that I have all my craft crap in one journal. Sorry for the repeat. Now back to your regular programming. :)

HELP! I've been attacked by WOOL and HOOKS!
How is it possible that I'm this bad at updating...? Oh, it's possible...
So, this post brings photos of the fantabulousness that is my crocheting. Before I start, lets get it out there. Crocheting, every time it is typed looks like someones writing the word "crotch". Cracks me up everytime.
Now that that's dealt with, on to the photos! So, I started trying to learn probably 3 times by renting the book "Stitch and Bitch: The Happy Hooker" out of the library in town. Don't be decieved by it's name... it's really not as rebellious as it sounds - I only learned how to crochet while reading it.
Unfortunately though, I've never been much for learning by book, so when a friend of mine offered to show me how to do it while watching Pirates of the Carribean 3, I jumped at the offer. I've only learned one stitch from her, but it's enough to make me freakin' excited right now, and start me on my first actual crocheting project!!
I basically grabbed all the old wool that was sweet colours from the bottom of the tupperware tub and started weaving them in when I finished the next one. The bottom is Purple, gray, light blue, dark blue, pink, brown, and then the rest of the scarf is going to be white. I'm about halfway done at this point, and I have no idea whether I'll actually wear it at this point, but I'm loving doing it! :D
Most of my crocheting goes on when I'm watching a movie, or at work when there's no customers. MY GOAL: to make sweet hats.
Watch me go, baby... watch me go....
-k.
